It all depends on the breed... most dogs like around 15 years. Small dogs are normally going to live longer. Larger dogs live a less amount of time. Now this is not always true. but most of the time a small dog's body has less work to do than a larger dog's body. I hope this helps!

Depends on the breed. Larger breeds usually live between 8 and 12 years on average. Smaller breeds can live as long as 22 years. The average for a small dog is about 15 years.

The average is 84 years. The smaller the breed the longer the life, is a good rule. But there are many exceptions. Bloodhounds and Bulldogs are short-lived...9-10 dog years or 70years. Giant Russian wolfhounds tend toward short lives, too. 70 or so. Pugs can live beyond15 years, but be wary...more than 12 dog tears for a short-nosed breed is Long! Except pugs. Many breeds have congenital conditions and are prone to diseases like cancer (boxers). So be wary. Mixed breeds are often the healthiest mid-sized dogs around. Rescue one, and you'll both be happy!

This is mostly because of size and weight burdon. If you imagine a chihuahua bouncing around compared to a Saint Bernard. The Saint Bernard has so much more weight to throw around and that causes more stress on joints, internal organs and general well being. Chihuahua's hardly weigh a thing so aren't causing as much stress to thier organs. The bigger the dog, the more the body has to work , the heart has to work even harder to pump blood to all the organs, the more weight, the more stress it puts on the body and joints. Important to make sure that Any dog is healthy for its weight range and in good cardiovascular shape to prolong its life span. Its almost like saying - Why does a skinner/healthier person live longer than an obese person.

It depends on the size, the breed, and the amount of care and love you give it. Small dogs can live 15+ years, big dogs can live up to 15 years, but sometimes older dogs can get diseases and die.

The smallest dogs live for around 15-19 years
