I need to advertise a volunteer program so that I can:
a-Get names of families/persons in need
and
b-Get donations
Does anyone know where I can do that? I do not have "non-profit" status yet so I can't use volunteer match or guide star. Any other options?

You can try coffee shops in the area. Many of them have bulletin boards that will let you post notices on them. You might also want to contact churches; they might be willing to plug your program during the annoucements.
If you need volunteers, you can also contact the high school in the area. Often, high schoolers need a certain number of community service hours to graduate, and many also want to be involved in volunteer programs to look good for colleges (and some are motivated by purely altruistic motives).

newspapers have a volunteer section, some are free, call and find out if your program can be listed

solid success, i think of there are a number of of scams available, and with the so called credit crunch human beings are not going to decide for issues like that, yet I do choose you the final of success. probably promote in a wellness center in the event that they permit you to? edit - ah, honest adequate then :) Then decide for it!
