My driver's side door has stopped opening not once, but twice now. (The first time it was fixed after an argument as to why it should be under the warranty, this second time, I have yet to see what they'll try to charge me). I just wanted to know if this was a problem with Focues or if it was just mine.

I have an '03 4-door sedan Focus, just fyi.

You guys are so helpful- I didn't even think to look for a recall. According to the site, none of my family's three Focuses are recalled, but I will check the other site you've just given me. Thank you so far!

No... I have an 02 4-door sedan Focus. No door latch problems but I have heard of a trunk latch problem (which I have). You press the trunk release button inside or on the remote and it 'clicks' while the solenoid tries to release but it can't unless you pull up on the trunk at the same time.

There have been about 20 recalls on the focus since 2001. Most of the recalls on Focuses occured on 01 and early 02 model vehicles (mine is late 02 and Zero recalls on it). The bugs were worked out by 03.

By the way, I read that the same generation Honda Civic had over 30 recalls!

The Focus tends to have a problem with the inner reinforcement for the outer door handle. If the tab breaks off the handle does nothing. If the door opens fine from the inside that is porbably the problem.

contact your local ford dealer and have them check to see if there are any open recalls for your car. there was a recall on the focus for door latches. if there is, the latches should be covered by the recall. and if they give you a hard time, try a differrent dealer.

And, as luck would have it, I beleive the doors are under recall. Go check the Ford website under recalls.
