I have to agree with one of the other persons answering. Take him in the house. It is in a cats nature to dig a whole before it goes to the bathroom and then cover it up. If you don't want the holes in the yard don't let him out there.

'Desexing' and exercise have nothing to do with it. He's burying his crap, some cats like to do that, it means he's tidy, let him get on with it.

Exercise him. Take him for at least one long walk a dog. He is telling you he is bored and wants to walk.
