If you have all ready had a tattoo especially in those areas no matter what size then this one should not be a problem its just more area to hurt not necessarily a bigger pain.

If you are getting one across your lower back, it does hurt a bit at first. The worst part is when they start shading right on your spine. The fleshy areas on each side of your spine don't hurt at all, in my opinion. After the first minute or so the pain gets better, because your endorphins kick in and you don't notice the pain. It's not really that bad. Some tattoo artists will apply a Novocaine cream to the site after they get the outline done to lessen the pain, if you request it. Good luck!

It's not too bad.

Honestly, in my opinion, the spine didn't hurt at all (how was it for your neck? I would assume similar)

What hurt the worst for me, was the fleshy areas over my kidneys.

But, when we were all done the artist and I decided the shading wasn't dark enough, and we re-did most of it. All fresh and raw. Couldn't have been that bad now could it?

Expect some pain, it's a controlled abrasion... it's not going to be a walk in the park... And yes, some artists will apply a numbing gel, if you ask. You will have to sit through the outline without the gel though.

Hope this helps!

A tattoo on a bony area of the body will hurt worse than one on a fleshy part. I had a small one done (black only) just below the waistline on my back and it was pretty uncomfortable, but I'm a wuss when it comes to pain.

it all feels the same. the only difference is that it's larger, so it takes longer. i am in the process of getting a full back piece if you don't think you can handle it, do the tattoo in two sessions.

Yes, I have several and the one on my lower back was the most painful. I'm not gonna lie!

if you're going to let a little pain keep you from getting a tattoo, dont do it....
