Need to know, are all high-definition televisions in widescreen? Can there be a regular 4:3 television that supports hi-def signals?

no one seems to be making 4:3 aspect anymore.

No not all in wide screen format. Some old TV that HD ready it's still in 4:3, but when you watch HD-signal which is 16:9 the picture will be cut off in top and bottom.

High Definition calls for the 16:9 format.

The short answer to your question is NO. regular television SD ( Standard Display) supports only 480 horizontal lines maximum. High Def is a minimum of 720 with a maximum of 1080 horizontal lines.
