People aren't offended by mixes. What they do have a problem with is delibrate, irresponsible breding of mixes.Breeding mixes, giving them cutsie names and selling them for huge amounts of money, scamming unsuspecting buyers. What they do have a problem is that there are many mixed dogs in shelters, being euthanised daily waiting for homes while some idiot is out there delibrately making more mixes.

I rescue these poor "mutts" as some people call them, and i have also rescued pure breds. I love all dogs as they all need love and attention regardless of the breed or mixed breed.
I am against the back yard breeders and the puppy mills that breed these poor dogs over and over for profit. I am against those that WILL NOT take the responsibility of getting a dog spayed or neutered and keep letting them over populate because they DO NOT CARE, But i love all dogs and i have mixed breeds that are very smart and LOYAL pets.

Like several of the others have said, I don't think that people object to mutts. It's the fact that people object to back yard breeders taking two dogs and mixing them to make a "designer" dog that will make them a lot of money. Most those people don't bother with health testing because they will cut into their profit.
I think the problem is that people can't understand why someone would pay big bucks to some backyard breeder or pet store for a mixed breed when pounds and shelters are overflowing with so many animals.
EDIT TO ADD:
I've had both purebred dogs and mixed breeds, and I can't say that the purebred dogs were any better or worse than the mixed.I now have an Australian Shepherd mix that I adopted from the Humane Society when she was 8 weeks old and I love her dearly.

It's not so much the existence of mutts that people are objecting to. The problem is the number of people who either deliberately or by failing to neuter breed unwanted puppies which then add to the problem of dogs being destroyed.
In the case of the 'trendy' mixed breeds, many of these poor dogs are bred by backyard breeders in search of a quick buck. They are sold for vastly inflated prices to satisfy a passing fad and then thrown out when the fashion changes. If you think this is an exaggeration then just look at dalmatian rescue after the Disney movie was released.

I'm not offended by the dogs or mutts as you will.I've owned many and they've proven themselves to be just as loving and protective and smart as my registered dogs have been.
What offends me is all the stupid people in the world who REFUSE to alter their mutts and or KEEP THEM AT HOME rather than letting them roam unattended to add to the pet population.
And that's not saying that these dogs should not be allowed to mate ever but how upsetting is it to the owner of a purebred in heat when he finds the dog mating with a mongrel when he put it out in it's own yard to pee? That's not funny at all. It's irresponsible and destructive. But the owner of the mutt will shrug it off and blame the purebreds owner for having a ***** in heat!So don't blame the mongrel haters of the world because they may just have reason.

I don't have a problem with mixed breed dogs, they are very lovable guys. We had a Benji dog, and a poodle mix when I was a child, and we loved them both very much. The problem is some of the people who breed the dogs by mixing large and small breeds together to see what they get (there is a girl on here somewhere that is wanting/trying to breed her Lhasa and bulldog together and she also wants to breed her greyhound and rotti together on a bet, cruel if you ask me). If you want a good companion look at the dogs in the shelter, save a life, adopt one. If you want a show dog with champion blood lines then buy a dog with a pedigree, the choice is theirs to make. Me, I'm going to look at a dog rescue agency, or my animal shelter for my dog.

Well mixed breed dogs are a lot smarter then pure breed dogs and they live longer. This is because of the different breeds that they are mixed. My dog looks a lot better then a lot of these pure breeds out here. When I take him to the park people ask me what type of dog do I have. He has a very unique look to him. Some people think he's a rare breed. LOL

The Canadian Kennel Club DOES NOT recognize mixed breed dogs as purebred! OK, that being said, mixed breed dogs are just as good as registered breeds as far as pets go. The thing that irks people is the explosion of so called new breeds that are highly overpriced. Not the dogs themselves.

Mutts are great. What many object to is the purposeful creation of MORE mutts for profit. There are enough out there without money hungry idiots making more and thinking up cute names for them and insisting they are a BREED.

I have had many "mutts" throughout my life, and they have all been wonderful dogs, and I wouldn't have traded any of them for all the riches in the world. However, it does bother me to see people selling mixed/cross breeds at "purebred" prices. I know it's all a matter of supply and demand, but it just irks me for some reason. I don't think that they are "lesser" or "inferior" or anything like that. I just think that some of the prices on crossbred dogs are outrageous. All dogs are blessings, in my opinion.
