There's really no foods you should avoid. I have hypothyroidism myself and I think my endocrinologist said something about eating more food with iodized salt in it, since it deals with iodine deficiency. But if your on medication for it there really isn't a need for it.

The food you eat doesn't affect your thyroid function. The only case where food affects thyroid function is with people in very poor countries and with very poor diets, severely lacking in iodine. This does not apply at all if you live in a modern, 'western' country with adequate food of any sort - even junk food. Don't worry about it and don't bother with 'supplements' - they will not make any difference except to your wallet! You might be interested to know that synthroid is not a 'drug' as such, it is absolutely identical to the hormone your thyroid naturally produces. This hormone is called thyroxine (or T4, for short). So it's really simple - if your thyroid doesn't produce enough thyroxine, you just take some in a pill to get a top-up. It does not have side effects in the way other drugs do because it's just replacing something that would normally be there.

There are no foods to avoid simply because you are hypothyroid. You should be taking replacement thyroid hormone, and should be able to eat anything.

I don't know what hypothyroid is, I have thyroid trouble and take synthroid medication. I haven't been told to avoid any food. Ask your doctor
