Anyone any thoughts on what I could get for my new boyfriends birthday [...and Christmas for that matter] - his birthday is next month, we'd have only been together a month, what would be appropriate??

Get him something he needs so that 1 - he will appreciate it in the future and 2 - you will look good in his books. The thing is he is a new boyfriend so u don't want to invest too much at the moment, you have no idea how things will go. If he's mentioned recently that he saw a t-shirt or a cd that he liked then get him that along with a nice card and maybe a bottle of his fav alchohol or book. Don't spend too much but impress, put effort into wrapping it and buy a card (or make a card) that says a lot. I would say spend no more that 20 - 40 pounds depending on your budget. Good luck!!

Definelty not jewellery, that is too committal. Unless you are at that stage already...
Something simple will do it; a CD, DVD or a good book. Just make sure that you don't go out of your range to impress this new boyfriend.

Some DVDs? A CD wallet for his car with a couple of CDs ( presuming he drives and has a CD player in his car). Think about his hobbies and choose something related to them. Listen intently to conversations and see if he refers to something he'd like! Go into town with him and quietly note what he points out or which kinds of shops he gravitates towards!!

just something small like a cd or something, try to work out exactly what kind of music he likes and get something along thoses lines but by a different band to those hes got.
