Fortunately, I only paid $7.99 for it @ Best Buy yesterday. It seems to really slow things down and the Site Advisor part of it won't work unless I download the current version over it. (That part isn't a big issue, as it's free anyway.) I've used Mcafee before when it was bubdled with MSN Premium or AOL and had no problems with it. Norton, which is generally known as the bigger "resource hog", gave me far less problems. Anyone know if this can be returned to Best Buy? Their policy, as stated on the receipt, says no refunds on opened software but McAfee states on the box that there is a 30-day money back guarantee. I'm thinking about just going with one of the freebies. Any recommendations?

The Site Advisor won't work, even after update. I have to actually go to the McAfee site and download this particular feature all over again.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.
