I plan to go professional in boxing...I'm 15 but I can't start boxing until next year. I see professional boxers who started at 12 or was popular at 15. so I wonder if 16 is too old to start

Your question implies you are already boxing at an amateur level? (If not, then you need to spend a few years in the gym boxing at an amateur level first) Very few can make a living with their fists (legally). Many try. Go for it dude! It's great to have dreams.... But don't forget those school books. You'll need something to fall back on when you realize boxing is a very difficult way to put meat and potatoes on the table. Most boxers do it on the side. As such, they are not able to truly dedicate themselves to the sport. But if you come in to this thing with the attitude that it is a "hobby" (a sport you love) where you can make some bucks on the side, then you should be OK. Then if something begins to happen in the ring and you start kicking ***, then maybe I'll see you on Tuesday Night Fights sometime, with Teddy Atlas droning on and on about how you need to keep your left up. Good luck!

most boxers turn pro at 20 or 21, so you have plenty of time to train
