Maybe it's just me, but why do people break the speed limit on purpose, and then if they get a ticket for it complain and moan, making excuses about how everyone else was going the same speed (sorry, they can't catch everyone); or the officer singled them out because they were driving a sports car (yeah right! *scoff*), because they are a woman, man, black, asian, etc.?

Because, you know, they are just sooooooo important that every cop in the world has his or her eye on them all the time.

I also chuckle at people who drive sports cars and complain about the cops allegedly singling them out. They never stop and think that people driving sports cars are more likely to speed than are people with other cars.

Honestly, if I drove a sleek car with a high-powered engine, I can bet that I would be more tempted to speed than someone driving something with a 4-cylinder engine.

i'm african american and drive a "sports car" most of the time, but when i speed (and i do) and get caught (which i do), i try to be as kind to the officer as possible... i was speeding, after all. i've only been pulled over one time that felt like "profiling"... i was 4 mph over the limit, but i also wasn't the fastest one on that stretch of road. maybe it was just my turn?

Americans have become like that in all respects. We refuse to take responcibility for our actions. A former President was a great one for blaming the system for allowing his actions, rather than himself for taking them. Daytime TV icons are probably at the root of most of this kind of cop-out.

I'd love to know that too.

Alot of speeders think that they aren't REALLY doing a thing wrong..that cops should be getting the REAL criminals...get real!! Most cops catch a lot of bad guys during routine traffic stops.

I think it is what people do 90% of the time that matters, the small bit of time that they do go over they may get caught, that is frustrating, when you are a good driver, but just one time for just one moment go a little over and BAM! that happened to me.

Maybe the hefty fine that comes with it plays a big part in not wanting to except it.

People rarely assume responsiblility for anything. That's the American way. Sad, isn't it?
