i have a female 8 month old boxer.
she just started going in her crate.
when i wake up in the morning she is standing in a puddle of pee.
please give me advice on what to do...

wel if you aren't already doing so..take her to the bathroom right before you put her to sleep.
also, if you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom you should let her out.
if that doesn't wokr i think that you should take her to the vet.
she could have a bladder infection
or just an overactive bladder

Why does a dog belong in a crate? That's cruel. Would you like to spend the night in a crate and not be able to 'go' when you wanted? If the dog cannot be left alone because of your schedule, then maybe you shouldn't have gotten one.

Depending on the crate size, also have you been taking the puppy out side alot? puppies seem to go every couple hours, make sure when you give the puppy water that you take the puppy outside until she goes to the bathroom, then before bed take give the puppy more water and take her outside until the puppy goes to the bathroom, I hope you do not keep the puppy in the crate all day because that will teach the puppy that its ok to go to the bathroom where she sleeps.

A dog that age shouldn't be in her crate very long - walk her later at night (like around 10-11pm), wake up earlier (like around 8am) and at the SAME time EVERY day to get her into a routine...and yes reduce the size of her cage with a wire rack as a partition and you can use metal wire to attach to the cage - remove as she gets larger.

How long is she in the crate? Are you toileting her before you crate her? Are you feeding her right before crating her? Have you had her checked for an infection?
Try taking her water away several hours before crating and making sure you offer her a toilet before crating. It's best too if you keep her on a regular schedule.

The crate may be too large for her. The crate shouldn't be any larger than she is. Also, she may need to be walked later in the evening before you put her in the crate. How many hours is she spending in the crate?

1) Remove any bedding you have there.
2) Make sure she has just enough room to stand, turn around, and lie down.
3) Make sure she's not expected to hold it over 8 hours.
4) Take her water away 2 hours before bedtime.

I had the same problem with my Pug and it turned out she had crystals in her bladder so she couldnt hold her urine long. Take her to the vet because its not normal or to save you some money just change her diet to SD Prescription Diet by Hills (found at your vets)and feed her that for about a month see if it helps. If it does she most likely had crystals.

The obvious answer would be to be sure she urinates just before putting her in her cage. If it's a small enough cage, she really does not want to dirty her bed. When she whines to get out, take her outside to urinate. Good luck.
