With so many airlines now flying in Europe nowadays with the rapid rise of budget airlines, what do you consider as the best European airline?
I personally consider British Airways the best for all-round comfort, service and now also value. The BA fare structure has recently be reorganised and you can now get one-way flights from just £29 to several European desinations from various UK airports. I find the BA cabin crews the most pleasant and helpful of all the airlines, with which I have flown, and BA flies to centrally located airports and not ones miles from the cities, which they are supposed to serve; Frankfurt-Hahn, Paris-Beauvais and Düsseldorf-Weeze are all used by Ryanair for example, yet all three are so far from their respective cities that the cost of the journey to reach them could have gone towards a flight with a major airline which flies to a major airport.

The best European airlines are:
Virgin Atlantic- Great entertainment system with great seats in all three classes (Economy, Premium Economy, and Upper Class)
Lufthansa- Internet onboard!
British Airways- Fly almost every international airport in the US

I agree with you 100%% about the value and excellent service of British Airways. Free drinks, full delicious meals, spacious seats even in world traveller class, and those flight attendants are always so helpful and nice. Even on the short flight from Gatwick to Marseilles, we were served a sizeable, albeit very British, boxed breakfast. Even though you can compare BA with Easy Jet and Ryanair, those 2 are great just for being cheap and safe airlines. But nothing compares to BA!

Overall British Air, Air France, Virgin and Lufthansa have the highest rating in terms of service for European airlines. I have heard from my clients that Swiss Air is very good, also. As far as I am concerned these cut rate airlines are ruining the industry.

I like Alitalia, because the air hostesses are men, and they give you a cute packed luck called an Ali-snack. I had to go to Amsterdam on KLM to change flights to get to Rome.

I always fly with AerLingus as they arenot expensive and they go exactly where I want to go. Delays are rare, safety standard is very good and they are friendly. Air France are good too, but their reputation for striking at a minutes notice always worries me.

I like Air France cos they give you a complimentary wee bottle of wine with lunch!

I like Aer Lingus as well, they always seem to have very affable staff.

One gripe I have about Lufthansa is that they don't have personal TV screens for passengers, even for trans-continental flights (in coach anyway).
