You are not fat and unattractive.
To some, you may be FATTER and LESS attractive than you were, but you will still be sexy if you feel sexy. I am just a mere man, so I don't completely understand how women do this, but they can double their attractiveness just by changing their state of mind. Perhaps it has something to do with a woman's state of mind.
You can work on your jelly belly by doing sit ups but your hip size has enlarged because your pelvis has moved to allow a baby through, so I doubt you will go back to an 8.
Anyway, Marilyn Monroe was a 16 and tell me SHE wasn't sexy. It doesn't matter what size you are.

I don't think you're being stupid. I'm a size 10 - 12 now but used to be an 8 and was well fit. I haven't had any kids so I have no excuse and I know that 10 - 12 isn't fat believe me so don't anyone think I'm sad, but my once toned body is flabby now and it gets me down. I know how you feel. Also, once I feel depressed about my body I eat more which makes it worse obviously. Its so horrible isn't it? I guess as we get older we have to work at it so why not join a gym, do some sit ups etc. It will take time, but if you perservere you will get a better body shape. Mind you this is me giving you advice and I'm a lazy cow who can't get motivated either. Good Luck x

I know its hard for you. I also get really down about my weight, even though my fiance is constantly telling me how attractive he thinks I am.
But I'm going to tell you something that my (soon to be) mother-in-law told me. If you're not happy quit your complaining and do something about it. No one else can help you, only you can change the way you feel.
And if changing the way you feel means losing weight, then go for it. You can do it. I know its not a good time of year to start, but even if you diet for a few weeks, you've got a head start before you start yamming turkey and stuffing down your neck like we all do at xmas.
I've just started my diet and have lost 13lb in a few weeks, but also going up the gym or exercising will help, and will also boost your confidence.
But I dont think you are stupid for feeling like this. You've always been used to having a good body and now you feel lik theres no going back, but there is.
Good luck. x

Your taking the first step by asking. Look around this site. The diet and fitness section is 80% "i need to lose weight". If you will follow everyones advice about diet and exercise, you will be able to change this. You metabolism only gets slower as you age, and you will only get bigger unless you do something. You are not stupid. Get up and do something about it, and don't be like the other 90% of the people who ask this question and take no action. You can speed up your metabolism with proper diet and exercise. Check out bodybuilding.com. Plenty of diet/exercise info to get you going. It is not only a bodybuilding site, as most people on it are not bodybuilders.

No you're not being stupid. By the sound of things your not over weight in the clinical sense of the word but if you are unhappy and uncomfortable with your size that's what counts, not what everybody else thinks.
Try contacting weight watchers they have meetings in most countries of the world. The eating plan they have is in my opinion one of the best ways of ensuring you are eating a healthy and well balanced diet which is important for lots of aspect of your health, not just weight.
good luck

There is a saying "9 months there, 9 months back."... if your baby is older than one year I would try to exercise much more. Take your baby out in the stroller, whatever it takes but you can regain your figure, I have had 2 children who are now adults but I have the same figure now as I did when I was 14yrs old however I do work at it.......

a size 8 isn't very attractive (im a small 10 and try to put on weight), it's tough...There was a survey in a mans magazine that said 90 or so percent of men preffered a more ample woman...Charlotte Church verses Posh Becks...sob sob...be lucky and happy for what you got

if you are wooried check what you eat and how much. Do not confuse the feeling of being bloated with being full. Do some exercise. Walk the long way to the shops etc

I think as long as you think you look ok its not a problem. But try and excercise more and change your diet to something more healthy. If you feel down about it you are more likely to get depressed and could gain more weight. Just be glad that you arent worse.

most everyone feels fat/overweight
its a matter of being happy with who you are
dont compare yourself to others
but just look down or in the mirror
and ask yourself if youre satisfied
if youre not- make the necessary changes
