I really don't get it. The army does NOT just take anyone. There are bad seeds in any branch and I personally know of a few marines that fall in that category. However I would never bash that entire branch because of a few bad ones. Don't these women know that as military spouses we should be supporting ALL of them instead of bashing them? I know I for one really like the marines...they do a great job supporting the army!

I know it's a long time rivalry and I know there's friendly ribbing.....I have no problem with that. My husband is army and his dad was a marine so there's all kind of interesting conversations at family dinners. What bugs me is all this garbage from people acting like the army is full of trash. That is simply not the case.

Marinewife...I have to say I think it's so funny you'd say the marines do all the work. It was army that led the way in Iraq....3rd infantry division to be exact...knew a few guys involved in that though my husband was still in basic then. And it's army that has to be there for 12 or more months per deployment. SO I would say that the army men and women are doing more than their fair share.

retired military wife...there was one specific marine wife that had ticked me off...amazingly she didn't respond to this particular question. (Though there have been quite a few others too)

There's nothing wrong with being proud of what your man does. There actually isn't enough of it any more among the military wives. However, saying that one branch is better than the other is crazy. Not being able to admit you're wrong is even worse. However, it's the trend of the new and young wives.
Anyone who knows anything about the military knows that no single branch can stand alone. They all rely on each other. It's quite ironic that the Marines train on other branches posts and bases more than any other. They don't have much to call their own. That says that Marines rely on others and they know it. Should anyone think less of them?? No, I don't think so. It just proves that everyone works together.
It's quite funny the wives do more bashing than the men. The men have their rivalry. I don't know what women call it. I just know I'll always support MY soldier!!
HooAh!!
Oh, and southca49er.....military wives do know about their hubby's careers and the branches of the military. It's our life too. Those of us who care and support our hubby's choice of career stay up on all the details. We have pride too.

I haven't seen any specific examples of what you are talking about, but I don't care for it either. We all need to support each other no matter what branch of service.
southca49er, apparently your four years in the Navy was spent mostly on ship where you didn't see any military wives. That's the only reason I can think of that you would make such an absurd statement. We're not kept away from duty areas. We see and understand things too. The military is our life also. It would be stupid for us not to listen and look around. We are NOT dependent on what our husbands tell us. I've told my husband many things about his various units and the people in them that he didn't know and later found to be true. At times I've been mistaken for both a soldier and a Marine. Any military wife who sticks her head in the sand like you are implying we do doesn't survive at this.

I really don't understand why any one from any division of any branch would want to bash a fellow soldier. It seems to just be a long time rivalry like in a football game, only the reality of the outcome much more significant. I ask if a fallen soldier next to you in combat were from the rival 's team would you leave him behind because of his uniform? I think not, we are all AMERICAN'S no matter what color uniform we wear. I think it really is just a cliche' (although it has some merit) all soldier's no matter what branch are brother's in arms. United we stand, divided we fall...

Consider the source. Who do Marine's talk good about? Yep, they think they are the best and so be it. I want them to believe they are as well because I'd rather have tough as nails ******* fighting for me than guys who just want to get along with everyone. Let them be Marines and don't take it personally.

You are right, the army dosent take anyone, and there are bad seeds in every branch. I don't think us soldiers should bash each others branch of service, we all are a team and teamwork gets the job done. I'm in the army and have Friends in the Navy and Airforce, we all work our butts off and do our share, especially during war, to say one branch is better than the other is BS. Go to war before you bash anyone. I have respect for all soldiers.

Hasn't this just been a loooongg time rival thing. I think it's just normal razzing....however I am NOT a marine wife. I think Marines are bad a$$ and my dad was in the Army....BUT our family is partial to the Army....I guess it's just about being loyal....to that particular family member in whatever branch he/she serves.

The same reason our Marines diss the Army. Besides, if I ever make a statement saying the Marines are better or whatever, it's because they are, but it doesn't mean I don't respect and support the other branches as well. And about the "Army does NOT just take anyone"... How about the 41 year old grandma from Texas that joined?! Semper fi!

Its funny and interesting to me to see the wives of marines and army "bashing" the branch of the other. It's funny because the wives dont really know anything beyond what thier husbands tell them. And trust me on this one, military guys are known for telling some pretty tall tales about stuff that they did-(especially when it comes to other women). It is interesting because the whole army vs. marine thing is just a pissing contest between two dogs on the same tree.
For every single job or role that a soldier has in the army, a marine has an equal role but with a different name ( although army has thier own medics whereas marines use navy corpsman). Marines have Recon where Army has Rangers. Marines have sharpshooters, and Army has snipers. Marines have tanks and Army has tanks.
Marines tend to deploy from both air and sea, but Army invented Airborne. Marine and Army both have airpower.
The only thing i guess army has better is thier longer history, and collegiate sports teams.
Correct me if im wrong but typically Army is largley responsible for occupying a captured territory, whereas Marines basically get in, destroy it, and get out. Marines have better looking dress uniforms. Personally i would rather be a marine than a soldier, but im biased because im former Navy.

Good God you Army people are everywhere!
When do you work?
Of course no one wants anything bad to happen to anyone else in the military and of course all the bases work together to make the us military the best in the world. SO, Lighten up already its all in good fun! Besides, if you "know" you are the best, then why are you getting upset anyways?
