What you are asking about is the Akashic Record. This is the record of everything that has happened or will happen in reality. Prophets and people who do psychic readings, such as Edgar Cayce, can access a level of consciousness through meditation and visually see events that have taken place or the future events with the highest probability of occurring; for the future is like fluid and is not fixed but is made up of probability verticies. These records also have vast amount of information on spirituality and evolution of consciousness. I highly suggest you search Akashic records on wikipedia for a good explanation and then if you become interested in the science behind the record, look up some new age information about aetheric models of physics(this model concludes all is connected and the same meaning the creator/god/intelligent infinity is everything even us and our consciousness are in true reality one thing not many separate things which is our current perception of reality in an illusory existence.

Also look up Theosophy and Madame Blavatsky (I think I spelled her name right) I seem to remember she also referred to them. It's so hard to keep it all straight....

And if you're interested in the general topic, read anything by Robert Anton Wilson you can find! Illuminatus Papers first if you can find it.
