I know it sounds rediculous, but the answer is yes and no. Number 1 you need to take into account the laws against statutory rape in your specific state. In many states that age difference is just that. In those states, that is considered rape, whether or not you consent. In those states your parents, or a family member can file charges either way. They can file charges years later even after you become of age if it can be proven. I hate to tell you this but your parents are usually right in their judgement of the person you have your future set on. No matter how brief it might be. I do, however realize that parents have been proven wrong in some cases; But if you check, statistics will bear this out. They realize that your decision could alter your entire life and everything you do from that day forward, which is something you should really consider as well before you even think about a relationship with this man, and in the eyes of the law he is a man and you are a child no matter what you think or how you feel. That is the law. That's why all kids think their parents suck at one point in time. 16 is very young. You probably don't realize that right now. What you need to do is really acess what you will gain by dating this guy as opposed to what you could both loose as a consequence of that relationship. Both of you are hormone crazy and curios at that age. Been there and done that. I made the wrong choice. I was 14 and thought I knew everything. The best advice I can give you is take it slow. There are a lot of bad things that can go wrong . I would wager a bet with you that this is not the guy you will spend the rest of your life with. One day hopefully you will look back and remember this message. If you're not able to finish school. If you end up pregnant. Or worse where will this guy be? It's not all fairy tales. Believe me!!!!!

thats not a big age difference but be careful if you want to get physical because that is illegal in many states (some states have a 2 year waver) talk to your mom or dad about dating an 18 year old if they're okay with it go for it honey!!

As long as you dont do it or something like that it should be ok. Some people frown upon the 18 dating 16 year old thing, but yeah.

In your case, no. 2 years is nothing :) .. My dad is 13 years older than my mom. Whenever I tease them about it, they'll say "oh, age doesn't matter something something love" haha.

If you have a problem with it then it matters. If it doesn't bother you or your family & friends then it doesn't matter. Two years isn't too bad of an age difference anyway.
