Usually it is caused by stress or sometimes restorations that are too high. A bite splint is recommended for grinding at night.

People grind their teeth due to stress. I am a Dental Nurse and this is a common complaint. If it gets too bad a mouth guard is made out of a soft plastic to help relieve the pressure and stop damage to the teeth.

It can often relate to stressful moments in time, whether its pressures at home or at work.

I personally have always suffered night terrors which has lead me to lash out, scream and grind heavily my teeth. My dentist gave me a gum shield in the end, cause it was causing bruising to my gums and damaging my teeth.

MOST OF THE REASONS ARE STRESS RELATED. TO STOP THE GRINDING COMPLETELY HAVE THE DENTIST FABRICATE AN N.T.I. APPLIANCE WHICH WILL MAKE YOU UNABLE TO BRING YOUR TEETH TOGETHER DURING SLEEP TO GRIND THEM. THIS IS A VERY COMFORTABLE APPLIANCE TO WEAR AT NIGHT.

I wish I knew. My ex used to grind his so badly he got rid of most of the enamel. The dentist made him a rubber guard but he ground through that in two nights. It used to drive me nuts!!!

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT PEOPLE WHO GRIND THEIR TEETH ARE SUFFERING FROM WORMS IN THEIR STOMACH. JUST TO TEST IT DO A TREATMENT FOR WORMS. WE DO EAT SALAD AND FRESH FOOD WHERE WORMS OR THEIR EGGS CAN PASS THROUGH THE MOUTH.
