Basically when the dog is starving and your door is open and there is a smell of food. But why not go to the animal shelter. There is lots of stray dogs there that need homes

Alternatively, seeing as how I don't leave my door open, he'll never get that chance; he'll just have to go mad outside with the smell of good cooking.

omst likely stray dogs won't just walk into your house.
but if they did i would think during broad daylight when everyone is out and about
