I don't understand why he asked my on a date and then says later that he just wants to be friends??
AND HE EVEN TELLED ME THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE A REAL DATE WITH ME!!

Believe him when he tells you he just wants to be your friend. He could have issues that are not revealed on the first date. He could be married or in a committed relationship and just weighing his options. It takes anywhere from 90 to 180 days to get to see the real person. Be his friend and then you may find out that you really don't like him as much as you think.
The fact is that women get caught up emotionally faster than a man. It takes men three times as long to decide if they like you or not and then it takes most men just as long to become emotionally attached. From experience believe what he says when it comes to how far he wants to take the relationship and watch his actions also because some men want to be friends with benefits and no emotional attachment.
Also if the friendship continues for any significant length of time and you are still going out on dates check with him periodically to see if you are still just friends or has the relationship changed in his eyes. WORD OF CAUTION PUT YOUR EMOTIONS ON ICE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AND DATE OTHER MEN.

He wanted to take you out on a date to get to know you better... That is what dating is for. If we didn't have that he should have just asked you to marry him, because he must know where he wants to or not before dating you!

Did the date go well? Perhaps you were just not what he ws looking for. But then again men are retarded, so I wouldn't read to much into it. Maybe he is just keeping his options open.

If you didn't answer right away he probably got nervous and figured it would be safer to use the friends line. Figure out how you feel about him and then decide if your dating or whatever. Good Luck

He may have mixed feelings for you...make sure you know what your getting into because he may only want you as a hook-up...but besides that if your comfortable with it, I would go talk to him about it
