What are my chances to play high school, college golf?

I am 14 years old, Freshman in high school. I practice on the range every day for 4-5 hours with 1 hour of short game/bunker practice. Also another hour for putting. My handicap is a 12 right now. The handicap should go down because I am planning on getting a few lessons.I practice alot and am playing way better and consistantly. My only down side is I'm pretty small and can only drive about 225-235 yards. I started lifting weights however so I should get stronger. I also am going to us the Momentus Power Hitter to build up my clubhead speed. I go to De La Salle High School in California. Their Varsity golf team won the state championship last year but I'm only trying for J.V. or Freshman.

To be great at golf you must practice. Get as many club pro lessons as you can and play as many different courses as you can. Sure the range is fun and it adds a little challenge with markers to aim at, however hitting the ball straight is a greater challenge than hitting the ball far for most people. Your body will change a lot, you are only 14. Play as many full rounds of golf as possible. Your chances to play in high school are much greater than your chances to play in college. Above all its what you make of it!! GO FOR IT!!!

I think your on the right track. If you are accurate with the driver, don't worry about the distance it will come. I don't know how much time you are spending on your long to mid-irons, but until your driving distance gets up to 275-300plus you may want to work a little more on those clubs(3-7 iron). You say you have a 12 handicap but how much are you really playing. When you do play make some notes about what is causing the bad shots and don't get yourself in that situation or practice on that shot that will take bogey out of play. Play to your strengths and you will do fine, just keep on practicing..Good Luck and I hope to see you on TV someday.

You could be on your way if you keep up that enthusiasm and dedication. You do need to keep it up of course. I had a look around and found this Golf School site which has a bit about schools and such. It's in the source box below.

Hope this helps.

Your chances are the same as the last 6 times you asked this question. Time to stop setting in from of the computer, asking the same question over and over, and getting out and playing.
