I look for something that will last and be something the person would enjoy...such as a book with an appropriate inscription from you...a potted plant that will add to the decor...or, if she is into something like Feng Shui (sp?), get something that can keep the good karma in the apartment for her and maybe a book about Feng Shui.

A nice bunch of flowers in a keepsake vase. The flowers are immediately cheerful, and a really good quality vase is worth it's wait in gold to a girl! OR I would also suggest...a nice, quality sisal welcome mat, kitchen towels, a nice set of three glass candle holders, or a fondue pot! These idea's should cover a wide enough price range for you to decide! Hope this helps and bless you for getting your friend a housewarming gift. What a generous, thoughtful person you are. I'm sure she will appreciate anything you give.

I vote a gift card. That way you won't have to keep guessing what she like. She can buy what she needs or want for her new apartment.

Hmm... candles, lamps, rugs, window shades, foldable furniture, a nice portrait, vases. Anything that she can find useful.
