The first book written has been dated to somewhere around 50-60 AD and is attributed to the apostle Paul. There is non secular writings dating from 150-170 AD that mention the first four gospels. The rest were most likely written, compiled and organized by the church from 170-325 AD when the Emperor Constantine ordered the 300 Bishops convened at the Council of Nicaea to close the Canon and deliver a definitive version of the Bible.

Actually, there is proof of who wrote the Bible, and when.
Certain events in the Bible (such as kings mentioned, and other larger events) were recorded in history, and dated from that. Also, they have found that EVERY SINGLE person who wrote a book in the Bible really DID live.
The only two stories there is any doubt of is Jonah, and Job.
Another thing that proves when the Bible was written is which materials were used to write it, and what it was written on. There is also plentiful archeological evidence to support things in the Bible (the fall of Jericho, Sodom and Gomorrah, et cetera).
The New Testament was written between about 45 AD and about 75 AD. The earliest known copies were from about 25 years after the fact.
It seems like a large gap, but it really isn't. The only ancient manuscript that comes CLOSE to that is Homer's writings, and the earliest known copies of his works were around 400 years after they were written. There are also fewer surviving copies of Homer's original manuscripts than there are of the Bible (compare a few hundred to twenty-four THOUSAND!).
Try reading Evidence That Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell. You won't regret it. He was an atheist who set out to prove the Bible wrong. Now he's a Christian.
The Bible was written over three continents, in three different languages, by over forty different authors (ranging from kings to peasants), over about 1500 years.
ANY other book with so many different factors involved would be a conglameration...and yet the Bible follows nearly the same theme throughout. Coincidence? I think not.
It's also not a coincidence that the Bible has survived CENTURIES of persecution.

Nahh.. nor do I ..
The first bible was written 50 years or so after Jesus's death.. and then the walls came tumbling thereafter.. with Jewish versions surfacing years later.. and the Islamic version some 300 years later..
To me.. the bible is the worlds first law book..
The fact we now fight wars over it.. goes to show how ridiculous the law is..
The fact some hijack religion to conquer and control the masses proves how diabolical some humans are..
Maybe it's time we finally listen to the real ancestors of humanity.. lets talk to our islanders and indiginous people.. they never had the problems we have.. like diseases, like food shortages, polluted water.. and worst of all chemical warefare.. it just never occured to them.. and they lived in paradise..
Maybe it's time we abandon religion and the bibles.. and work on a new future for humanity.. where we clean and fix the planet and make it our God from now on.. like indiginous people do.. then we can all live in paradise.. free of violence and stress..
Then we won't need religion to brainwash people..

it was edited and compiled (and partially written) by a PAGAN Roman Emperor, Constantine, in 325-AD. (reason #1 why it is not reliable).
most of its stories were handed over by word of mouth, and none were written until at least 30-40 years after the cult-myth figure, christ, died and rotted(roughly 60-70 AD). many were written much later. this is why they are not reliable stories, and why they contradict each other.

Shadow,
You've got it backwards.
Pick up the bible, read it, think about it, put your own interpretation on it. Figure out what YOU believe.
YOU write the bible.
