my friend payed $100.00 to have her dog xrayed to see how many pups there were, vet said 5, well her dog had 7 and had to have a c- section, i believe its a waste of money, just let it along and save your money for if she really needs the vet. Dogs are very good at haveing babys, just go to the pound and see how many there is. theres alot of good web sites out there on whelping out dogs and what to look for if there in trouble, read up on it and hope for the best. good luck

Ultrasounds are to expensive just do an xray, it will tell you how many pups and your vet can measure the sculls to make sure they will come out with no problems. Best time to do xrays are day 55

In a week or so a plain Xray will tell you how many puppies she will have. It is cheaper than an ultrasound.

Please be sure you deworm and vaccinate the puppies according to a schedule provided by your vet, and screen the adoptors carefully.

If you wait until gestational day 55, you can tell the best, and know if she can deliver them naturally, without C-section..
Just call your vet and ask, as this cost varies widely across the country

I'm a Veterinary Tech... and ultrasounds are expensive. All you need is an x-ray.
