I don't think I could get used to those horizontally distorted faces....
But I have a niche in the kitchen wall that would exactly fit a 19" wide screen LCD TV, but I would mainly use it for basic cable and TV monitor only.

Usually a widescreen tv will allow you to stretch a 4:3 picture to 16:9, and back. Mine does it with the press of an button called aspect ratio.

You do mean 14:9 correct? If so this is not a widely used format at all. Most DVDs and TV are shot in 4:3 or 16:9. The other formats are like 1.85 and 2.35 (film formats) and your 14:9. What brand/model do you have? How long ago did you buy it? Can you return it?

in the set up options just select 4:3 ratio for the picture.
