When the sciatic nerve in either the right or left buttocks becomes inflamed, the symptoms can be mild to severe pain that feels like a blow-torch running across the lumbar region of the spine and down both legs.
Other symptoms associated with an inflamed sciatic nerve can be pain when sitting, legs feel like they are going to give out on you when standing an in some cases when you look in the mirror the entire spine looks like it is curved in and "S" shape.
I prefer to perform one TX. of acupuncture to cure the problem.

The sciatic nerve comes down or, I should say out around the tail bone and across the butt cheek (it feels) like a hot wire, that is the only way I can describe it, and goes down the back and around the front of the leg, usually the right and stop there. Some, like me I have nerves that go down my calf and around my ankle to my toes, the three big ones., all I can say is wow!
I can be sitting and when the sciatic kicks in, there is no feeling close to it that can describe it.

yes.the sciatic nerve runs from the hip-and basically across ur butt-and down the leg.if this nerve gets inflamed, its extremely painful, but passes in about 3 months.u need bedrest at first, and certain anti-inflammatory meds.it can be triggered by pinched nerves in spine,by a slipped or bulging back disc, abd just by sitting too long.i was once on a 5 hour plane ride, but we sat on the runway an additional two hours due to bad weather.two days after i arrived,my "sore leg' was diagnosed as sciatica.it really hurts-hope i never get it again !tell ur aunt to get a "sciatica pillow" to sit on,it really helps.her dr can tell her where to get one .good luck !!!!

OMG every one of those people are SO right. Your auntie definitely has sciatica. I have it as well and unless you have it....you can not imagine how B A D it hurts. Tell her to go to a "pain management" doctor. Not only will they diagnose it, but they can give her a shot that may help. She will also benefit with physical therapy. Good luck

Is often called the hip pocket nerve.. extends down the back of the leg .Why isn't she having it treated? Is what the doctor of Chiropractic does best.
