I've been with him since sometime this summer and we were pretty good friends before that. He lives like two hours away from me so we don't see each other often but we either talk on the phone or my instant messaging nearly every day. He's becoming a significant part of my life and I really think I love him. However, I'm afraid to tell him because I don't know how he will react and like if our relationship will change if I do tell him I love him. I really like what we've got now and I don't want it to change. How can I get over this fear I have and tell him how I feel? And when would be a good time to do this?

Dont do this over the phone..ooooh...this is a big mistake...really it is nice to hear the guy say it first...mainly because we are not sure how he feels and we do not want to scare him...but don't get crazy guys feel the same way too...they are also afraid of saying I love you because they do not know how we feel either so we are even! Let him feel it in a spontaneous, cute way...like if he visits you, give him a hug whisper ur special .....mmmmm...i couldnt wait to see u...that is a big hint and hopefully he will get it. This is less threatening than I LOVE YOU. If he is falling for you he will let you know.
I would not say it because if he is not ready, it might create an uncomfortable feeling between you.

You should wait till HE says "I love you." That is the guy's role.
My boyfriend and I were good friends for over a year. And he'd always tell me he loves me. Of course I'd say it back because in our group of friends, we all said that. Just as a friendly gesture. But he told me he really meant it. And now we've been together for 9 1/2 months.
Just wait till he says it. It's his role and he's probably just waiting for the right time. Saying "I love you" is a pretty big deal. It's up to the guy to say those words first. Don't get your hopes up too high though.

Try to organzie a visit. Have dinner,and then watch a funny movie. Lay your head on his shoulder. When you feel you are ready,tell him how you really feel. If you say it over IM or the phone,he might not get the full emphasis of waht you are trying to tell him.

love is a hard thing but if you really mean it and you really feel it it will come naturally. I used to whisper it to my bf under my breath until he caught on, then he said i love you to and we were married a year later. good luck
