Yeah it's hard because people automatically associate "polygamy" with "Mormon" so they of course think we all practice polygamy. If others REALLY knew what we believed, one thing is we believe in obeying the laws of the land. Polygamy is against the law, so we don't practice it. Also, it was only practiced for a certain amount of time, which was short. People need to just get over it.

he's a perverted cult chief who merits to rot in reformatory for an prolonged time (he additionally seems lots like Bob Saget, do no longer you think of?) besides the undeniable fact that he probable won't receive an rather long sentence. regrettably, from what i've got analyze Jeffs' cult, the FLDS, even his arrest won't make lots of a difference. they have contingency plans in place and so lots greater needs to take place with the intention to help the youngster brides. The close by governments, police, new child shielding amenities, and such could be lots greater proactive in cracking down in this cult. so far those government have been reluctant to help - in part because of the fact they're afraid the FLDS could substitute into yet another Waco difficulty.

Beside the fact that the official LDS are highly suspect of being basically sympathetic to jeffs' position, having renounced polygamy for strictly political reasons, There are no reasons to mix up the official and fundy LDS.

kind of like radical extremist christians give all christians a bad name.
I'm not talking about those who are very devout, but rather those who protest funerals and blow up abortion clinics

LDS people have earned a very bad reputation all on their own without the help of today's polygamists.

BTW, According to the doctrine, Mormonism is a polygamist religion, it is also polytheist.
