Check out his 2002 interview with Larry King:
http://www.btinternet.com/~nlpWESSEX/Documents/larry-king.htm

he's invented a currency (yes, it's being traded in at least one country now), wants to dispose of democracy and reinstitute the devine right of kings to rule, and plans on having capitols for his new world government in every major city on the planet (there are already several of these built).

Given that his religious tenants are all about peace, love and family, do you think this is a good thing?

He sounds geniuinely uh...transcendental, and I think it is good that Larry King talked to this man, but as for his plan becoming a reality, it sounds rather far fetched. The only way it would be possible is if every single man, woman, and child became fully enlightened, in that they were incapable of doing harm and all had so much goodness and happiness in them that they would never need anything outside of their own bodies. Is it possible? Sure, in theory, it's exactly how I stated. If every person was a fully enlightened guru master, there would be no wars and no need for consumerism and essentially no need for government. So the real question is, how many fully enlightened gurus are there? A few thousand, maybe a few million, compared to six billion people that are not?

No, this plan of world peace will happen, but not over night. It will take time and patience. So much so, that I think it will gradually happen in such a way that one day people will be like, "hey, remember when we used to worry about wars and thought world peace would never come."

Either way, I'd say a safe estimate for world peace would be about 5000 A.D.

I hope it'll come sooner than that. Hell, I hope it comes tomorrow, but the pessimist in me says give it time.

I didnt even read the whole transcript, but I am sure he doesn't want to rule the world. How could a guy with such a cute little accent be anything but harmless.

He was the guy the Beatles went to visit in India, and it is said he had lustful desires toward some of the women of their party, which disillusioned the Beatles.

However, I do believe that possibly someday, all the countries of the world will come under one government, under one ruler, you see the trend now that the whole world is becoming more connected. Technology that connects us is becoming so pervasive that soon the distinctions between countries will be in name only, and everyone will become more similar to everyone else. Also, given all the frightening scenarios the 21st centurry presents, from nanotechnology replicating robots that will cover the earth with grey goo, or that asteroid that has a 1/10 of a percent chance of hitting the earth in 2027, or the nuclear threat as always, or global warming disrupting everytthing from food supplies to living space to possibly causing the earth to be flooded due to rising ocean levels, to increasing strain of exponential population growth, to the destroying of thousands of species of life every year, which are part of the food chain, to biochemical terrorism, to avian flus and whatever new terrible diseases and plagues that might develop, to devices that will be able to read peoples thoughts (see article about person who moved bionic arm with thoughts), imagine if everyone had a device that could read every other persons thoughts! And this is just the stuff we know about as being possible!! What about all the stuff that hasnt even been thought of that is coming this century, esp since technology advances at geometrically increasing rates!! People may be forced to come under one government of the world because we will realize that it is technology, and the drive of capitalism (always wanting more), nuclear arms races, pride of nations, that will destroy us and that the only hope to save humanity is to unite, it will come when it becomes necessary and people see it as the only way to save ourselves. It may not be for 100 years, but it will come.

Of course it's not a good thing. Anyone that wants to dominate the world is going to tell you that it's all about peace. Would you believe him if he told the truth and said I want to control everyone and everything. I will wage war against everyone who doesn't abide by me. So naturally he'll say he's peaceful. In The Revelation, only the Antichrist will be able to pull this off. He will deceive and so many ill informed people will believe and follow. I don't know if this Yogi is a false prophet or just nuts.

I remember my father threatening to put his boot through the television screen if he ever saw that *****'s face again! That really impressed me loads! The poor old Maharishi was a very peaceable soul, just wore long robes and flowers and had a bit of enlightenment about him whereas the man i was supposed to look up to was behaving like a freak! MMY certainly had an effect on the Beatles, whether for good or bad only they could say but they certainly seemed more laid back after visiting him.

I don't think it's a good thing, even if he purports to be all about peace, love, and family. He's against democracy, and I firmly believe in democracy and the republican form of government. His government would be based on irrational superstitions and mumbo-jumbo. However sincere he is in his beliefs, I have no wish to have him, or anyone else, as my king. I prefer a freely elected republic, even with all of its problems.

False prophet. It's the sign of time . Satan is the angel of light, so it might look so appealing, but are you really want to sell your soul to the devil ?

Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and they will show great signs and wonders so as to deceive and lead astray, if possible, even the elect (God's chosen ones).

lol. do you think some people out there, are so gung ho on wanting their religion to be right, that they will strive to make their "prophecies" come true? will someone read the bible and the revelations and say, this is true i want it true, so i will do as it says, i will construct one nation ruler, a single currency make a mark for those who are loyal to me. etc. *shrug*

No. And he has about as much chance to accomplish this as Pinky and the Brain.
