No. Even people who have God in their life still have to go through hardships. It's just a matter of how they handle it. Being Atheist, I don't feel the need to pray or call up the local pastor. I call my girlfriend and talk about it, or something else. If Christians feel that they are less likely to buckle with God, then that's their belief, but neither are any more or less likely to buckle than the other.

I think I have heard of more people who believe in God going crazy and "listening to the voice of God" telling them to do terrible things. I would say that it is no more likely or unlikely for someone to buckle because of their belief in something outside themselves.

Belief in yourself and having close friends and family is a much better deterrent to "buckling under the weight of adversity".

It depends on what you mean by “buckle”.

People who rely on ‘god” are more likely to accept whatever comes along as being the will of some perceived divine entity. They don’t face adversity. They chase after chaos and confusion because the sense of persecution they inflict upon themselves takes away their own responsibility for failing to overcome adversity.

People who put their faith in themselves and their fellow man are more likely to take responsibility for their own solutions to adversity. They are more likely to keep plugging away until they solve the problem or overcome the adversity.

No, I do not think so. I have been in very dangerous and chaotic situations in my life, and I have not as you say buckled in my agnostic beliefs. If anything it has strengthened the power of my will, because for me, I am the only one that I can truly depend on, it is my own actions that determine my fate. I live my life as if death is right around the corner, I must always be vigilant and on the look out for danger.

Two ways...one, without God, Satan will not bother you because he owns you already so it could be you can live your life how you like it...in all freedom with no sense of spirituality.

two, without God, your spirituality suffers. and if you choose God, you might be persecuted and suffer...since Satan saw that he is losing his grasp on you.

Adversity does not mean God does not favor you. It is unjustly saying that destiny and fate are true...God gives us a choice in eveything and he did not predetermined our life. Whatever consequences we face is a result of our choice and not God's doing.

James 1:13 When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. 14 But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.

Remember Job...he suffered but it did not came from God, rather it was Satan who put him into much pain. although God allowed Job to suffer he did not let him die. (job 1:8-12)

No, just the opposite.

To face adversity efficiently one needs to have a clear view of the situation. Pretending to believe in fairy tales and legends from the middle east in order to run away from reality will not help at all.

No. Because when I'm faced with adversity I know I have to take an active roll in making things better. Looking to a supernatural source to intervene would make me feel helpless and stupid.

Since I dropped God, I have actually become a stronger person. I have realized that things just happen through no real fault of my own. It is not a test, it is not punishment, it just is. I have been able to face the world and know that I can make a difference in my life through my actions.

God isn't a shield. To "buckle under" is a choice. God gave us choice. Therefore we can choose to crumble into a pile or we can choose to refuse to wallow and get up and live *even if its merely a facade of happiness*

Why would that be? I've gone through many things, especially this year, and have yet to buckle. I'm still a truckin' w/out God in my life.
