Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

I had the same problem. I went from really clear skin as a teenager to having an oily, acne-prone forehead as a young adult. I tried everything to get rid of it and nothing worked. Eventually, I went to the doctor and she prescribed me Stievamycin, which you use with a very mild cleanser (i.e. specto-gel). The instructions said it would take about 6-8 weeks, but honestly, I've been on it for 2 weeks and my skin looks a million times better. It's much smoother and I don't have any big spots. People have actually noticed too, which is always nice. Unfortunately, acne isn't someting you can get rid of with a spot treatment, especially since yours sounds more complicated than that. I would recommend Yasmin birth control too, because it has low levels of androgen (which can lead to acne - pills like Alesse have high doses; I've switched from Alesse to Yasmin in the last month, and maybe that's also helped my skin). And be careful about over cleaning your skin! That can lead to irritation as well. Make sure to use water-based foundations. I am privy to most things Clinique puts out. Good coverage as well.
Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be, especially being female in the sort of society we live in.

I have acne prone skin also and I'll share my cleansing regimen with you. I use a wide variety of cleansers and things...
First I use the Clinique Foaming Cleansing wash to remove my make up
Then I use the Biore Exfoliating scrub
I use a microdermebrasion from Ponds
I then wash my face with the Clinique #3 cleanser (for oily skin)
I use toner (Clean and Clear)
If I have pimples, I dab Benzoyl Peroxide cream on the problem area
Let dry then I use the Biore Shine Free Moisturuzer
then I add my foundation and powder (clinique)...you may want to switch foundations.
I know it sounds like a hassle, but it works for me and its totally worth the time and effort

Use the Arbonne Intelligence Exfoliating Masque with Thermal Fusion. This is a masque/scrub. Use it every NIGHT for 5 nights, then skip 3 nights. Do not use it in the day, because it will cause reddening of the skin for about 2-3 hours after use. This will also get rid of any blackheads you may have. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly. You can buy it at www. stephaniedemonia. myarbonne. com. Good luck!

Acne skin is sensitive skin. You are better off with products for sensitive skin, including face wash and moisturizer. If you want to treat the acne use either an clarifying toner only on the only areas or a spot treatment. Otherwise you will dry your skin out.

ok well here are some things that help me!
1) origins has this really good thing called "spot remover" its in this really tiny bottle and you dont need a lot just a dab on the spots where you have big pimples...u can get it in the mall and its only $10 it works really well!
2) to clear up breakout, when you wash you face at night right after u dry your face and use the toner, put on some neosporin or antibacterial like that, its good to put it on then because your skin's pores are still open. that really helps breakouts
3) wash your face when your in the shower in the morning, it helps get of any extra grease from your face!
hope some of these helped!

you can hold an ice cube wrapped in a paper towel or kleenex over it, for a few minutes, a few times a day.....you can also go to the doctor and get a shot which should clear any pimple within 24 hours......or, you could get the zeno acne treatment device (ranges $150-$250).....myzeno.com.... you hold it on your pimple and it heats it.....supposed to clear or drastically reduce 90% of pimples within a day
as far as a preventive, my "miracle" has been the benzoyl peroxide they sell at acne.org.......proactiv never worked for me either.....also eating right and exercising, getting enough sleep, and avoiding stress all really help, no matter what they say......

it's probably your hormones acting crazy.....and a low dosage birth control could help, but could also send it more out of whack....if you are using make up, try using a mineral makeup. L'oreal has some that works awesome and won't clog your pores....go to the dermatologist and ask for an antibiotic and by all means do not pick and do not let your fingertips touch any part of the pimple.....believe me, you will regret it! good luck!

If proactiv isn't working for you, I would definitely seek the advice of a dermatologist. I would also stop using any make up for the time being, and I would also pay close attention to what I was eating. Make sure you are drinking as much water as possible to flush out any impurities in your system.

Not really any home remedies that could help you out because I have tried them all. I finally got fed up with my face and went to the gyno to get some birth control. I am not sexually active but it helped clear my face up in no time. Depending on how old you are, first of all but this was my last resort.
