Unfortunately, until the average person is seriously impacted I dont think people are going to do much. Even with the price of gasoline sky rocketing people seem totally oblivious. I hear people where I work saying global warming is a farce.

I am a very serious birder. I spend most of my free time out in nature. I am seeing the effects. Bird numbers are down. Birds that formerly were Mexican species are moving further and further north. We have had horrific drought this year in Texas. Its scary.

Most people do profess to care about the environment. That does not mean they will personally sacrifice to make it better. Some of the most outspoken environmentalists like Robert Kennedy like to tell the rest of us to be environmentally conscious all the while he is flying around the country burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel on private jets.

I think if we could find some moderate middle-ground, we might have a better chance of protecting our world.

This has been an on-going battle since the sixties, and though a lot of progress has been made in this area, It's still not enough. Maybe when people start choking on the air, and can no longer drink the water they'll start really trying...too little too late.

As long as there are rich, white oil and timber men who covet money...it'll never happen. They are raping the planet through greed.

Oh, and I forgot about NASCAR. Love the fumes and wasted oil products so the beer drinking rednecks can get a thrill.

a spectacular cataclysmic event in their very midst...people can see other people suffer, but until they are faced with things, many people will simply reject the idea they could be at risk
