Usually when I go up to get communion the preists hands me the bread in my hands with my left hand over my right and i take it and eat it, but I attended a different church last week. What I didn't notice was that everyone in front of my was holding out their toungue for the preist to put the bread on it...kind of wierd...but anyways I held out my hands when I went up to him and he just looked at me like 'You sick child' ...and then he held it out at my mouth level and I kind of grabbed it with my mouth in a very awkward dog-like way and his eyes just followed me like I was the most foul thing on earth. Is this symbolic of something..do you think I made the preist mad, was he just an ***hole, or was his face was molded funny? Plz, anything to make me stop getting the smell-bad look on my face and yelling random words out loud when I think ofthis would be nice.

That used to be the universal custom in the Roman Catholic Church. Secular hands could not touch the bread.
I guess the priest did not realize you were unfamiliar with this, and thought you were trying to make a point.

this is not stupid. at the same time as i do not continually cry, that's a case the position you comprehend that God cares a lot and he's ministering to you with the help of the holy spirit (you comprehend that the holy spirit is seen a counselor in biblical words). Do you imagine, that the clarification you may't stand this is because you experience awkward or that you're being said? have self belief me, this is tremendous and people that observe are regularly worried and favor to assist. i urge you to proceed to allow God to minister to you. i think that he has a particular blessing in shop for someone it rather is that tender to what is going on. in case you want to speak further, experience free to the contact me. reward

Wow! Did this guy miss Vatican II? Either way's acceptable. Before Vatican II, it was consider poor taste for "unclean hands" to touch the host. I'm guessing either this priest was really old or 99% of the congregation was.
I know this is really childish but I think I would have gotten a giggle out of sticking my tongue out at him for him to lay the bread on.

Years ago that is how you were given communion. The priest would put it in your mouth not in your hand. I did not realize there are still some churches that do it the old way.

What you were experiencing is a Catholic church that was doing things in a pre-Vatican II manner. It might have been a non-Roman Catholic church who still does it that way.
The idea is that the hands of men perform evil acts, and unless one has purified their hands, oughtn't to touch the Body of Christ. The priest ritually washes his hands before communion, you haven't.
When you go to a church, it's best to follow their traditions.

Wow. I'd suggest you go talk to the priest and ask him why he acted like that. Although I've never personally had that happen, maybe it's a new tradition in that particular church or something.

The Priest sounds like a jerk. He has to be aware that SOME people do it differently. Don't let some pinhead make you feel badly!

Haha, bit it out of his hand like a dog huh? Don't worry it's chruch, you won't be judged.
Where ever he is right now, he's not thinking about it, so why should you waste your time thinking about it over and over again.

Anyone who tries to make you feel bad for having different traditions is NOT a Christian. Don't go to that "church" again.

You can do either...it's a matter of perference, and all priests know that. At my first communion we were specifically told whichever we are comfortable with is fine.
