Saturn comes with a Honda engine, the leader in reliability. The Honda CRV is also a nice SUV in the segment, but do avoid the Ford Escape. The Saturn has a longer warranty than the Toyota and includes anti-corrosion and roadside assistance, avaliable OnStar, is much cheaper (especially when you add on all the options), more standard options, and looks like its from this planet. Saturn, along with GM has changed thier values and it really shows. They took almost all the money out of marketing and put it into development to make better vehicles. Last year Toyota had the most recalls, but the media "failed" to notice since millions would stand against them because of thier reputation. These days reputation is nothing, technology advances so fast it cant keep up. For ex: three years ago GM was one of the worst companies, now they have the most top-rated vehicles, and the quality/reliability surpasses Toyota. Honda is still on top of the reliability ratings. Ford also had more recalls than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined, for reasons like exploding engines and wheels falling off. Here is a quote from the Washington Posts review of the Toyota CAmry "one of which is the Chevrolet Malibu, which in my real-world driving experience has been every bit as good and reliable as the much-ballyhooed Camry but has been maligned primarily because it is a Chevrolet". Oddly enough that was an '04 Malibu VS the totally redisigned '07 Camry. Common problems with Toyotas are plastic rattling until it falls off. People then complain that when they take it to the dealer to be fixed they just say "The cars are made with so much plastic its practically impossible to fix" GM is also the worlds fastest growing manufacturer, and that dosent happen by accident. I also see way more '07 VUE's, so it says people are buying them.

I have a 2004 Ford Escape. I don't dislike the vehicle, but I wish I had spent a little more and bought a Toyota Rav4. There is nothing wrong with my escape (now with 50,000 miles) I never had any trouble with it, but when I was looking to trade it in this year and buy another vehicle, I was told that the trade-in value was about $4-5K (Originally $22K). I was most upset about that and decided to continue driving the Escape for another couple of years. I think the Rav4 would have held its value more than the Ford. That's my main reason for suggesting the Toyota.

theyre almost equal, honda engine on the vue, if it was gm, that would be a no brainer.y ou have to admit , rav4 is a lot better looking than the vue. 269 hp on the rav4 v6 while 24X on the vue?
my cousin just donated his rav4 with 320k miles. so reliabilty is not an issue with the rav4 like all toyotas.

FIRST OFF NASCAR24..the saturn DOES NOT come with a Honda engine. It comes with the same engine that is in the LW400 wagon. Since Toyota and GM have the powertrain partnership, your statement is invalid. The only time Honda has ever "agreed" to make vehicles with another name badge on them is in the case of Isuzu. Don't make statements sounding like an authority when you don't actually know something please. Thanks!!
To answer your question, I don't believe that you can go wrong with Honda or Toyota. They may have recalls but that is because they take responsibility for their problems BEFORE they become life threatening like the "American" car companies.

I worked at a Toyota dealership a few years ago, and the engines the RAV 4 (and other Toyota cars) uses are crap. Bown gaskets and cracked blocks are common in RAV 4s under 5 years old. The new ones still use the same engine. Go with the Vue.
