I just started a program where I do pushups and situps everyday, is this ok? I know typically muscles need time to rest but I thought if I am just doing pushups and situps it may not apply. Currently I do 3 sets of 15 pushups and 25 sit ups so I do 45 and 75 respectively. Is everyday cool or should I only do them maybe 4-5 times a week?

Edit* -- To those who said my body would get used to this, I do plan to increase the number of pushups/situps that I do each week.

You should do it like every other day so you can rest your muscles and give them time to grow.

It really depends on your physical ability. Initially you'll see gains. Pushups and situps are not high intensity exercises, so 3 sets of 15 is not going to do much harm (unless you are going to fast).

Also the important thing is, if you keep doing the same amount, there won't be any growth. This is the called the overloading principle. Your body will grow when it is challenged to exert itself more than it is used to. So slowly increase your push up reps from 15 to 25 in say about a month.

I say 4 times a week and rests in between. Its good to work out like this, but you may want to give it a twist with some jogging or some free weights. I work out about 4-5 days a week now and I've noticed that if I dont change my routine, my body gets use to it and nothing is benefitted. Good luck to you!

Start out with a few times a week and then increase to every day if that feels safe. It can't be dangerous in anyway, you just may be sore for a while. But no harm done!

No, it's not ok! Your muscles are like rubber bands. And when you strain your muscles you may become crampy throughout the day. Or you may even tear a ligament. So please
be careful and maybe take it down to 3-4 times a week.
