1. Pray often for the will to loose weight.
2. Put a particularly bad fat picture of yourself on the refrig.
3. Place your scales in front of refrig.
4. Throw out foods that you know you shouldn't eat but can't resist and shop for healthy low cal, low fat food.
5. Get out old jeans you used to wear and keep trying them until they fit again.
6. Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day so your body isn't fooled into releasing hormones that make you hungry.
7. Go to group such as weight watchers. They have a great plan anyone can follow and the power in the group really motivates. They make you weigh weekly and when you've done well everyone claps.
8. It has always been helpful for me to have a friend dieting with you.
9. If you have to cook for family make the same meal for everyone and don't give them hamburger and fries when your only having salad with baked chicken and fat free dressing. You'll feel deprived and overworked.

I am 55 years old. One day I looked in the mirror. My weight did not increase overnight so I do not know why that day the image made such an impression but I remember it clearly. I was 170 pounds in 2003 and 230 lbs 1 year ago and I am pleased to say that I am 170 again. The only motivation needed - and the motivation which worked - was seeing my very large reflection in the mirror. Good luck - besides motivation you will need it as there is no obvious or easy way to lose weight.

I remind myself how big a pain in the butt it is to find and try on clothes that I like in dressing rooms. Yeah I know its a vain motivation.

I agree with that other person, look in the mirror.
That's all the motivation I need, also get fitness magazines.
