Not at all, the common misconception about similarities between men is that every man has a few similarities to any other man, whether it be attitude, looks, or personality. In my psychology class, we had such a test to see the similarities between you and your complete opposite. There were at least 10 similarities. The point of the experiment was to show that a connection can be made by just finding the right common interest. Going back to the question, some people say this because they find a similarity between the boyfriend and the father. Similarities are not hard to find. Just because you both have long hair, does not mean she chose you because you look like her father.

It can be true for alot of people. The main reason behind it, is actually comfort. It's not that women are out looking for guys that resemble their father, it's that they look for qualities in a man that their upbringing says is right for them. He's good to other people, polite, smart, assertive, shy, etc.
Another thing to remember is it's not a conscious decision. Women don't think "gosh he reminds me of dad"...
Now, this doesn't hold true for everyone. There are alot of reasons out there why a woman will look for the opposite of their father... but that's a totally different subject.

I am going to say sometimes, I know I like older men & dating a 52 yr.old for just over 2 yrs. now known him for three.Love him to death.cant 't picture a life without him now, I am almost 27. Yes he does have similar qualities & traits to my father, but he isn't my father. That is the thing he isn't your father. So in that aspect I would say no because he isn't the father.

Well, as a matter of fact the girls whom had good and warm relationship with their fathers, they would attract to guys who have those similarity. But it's not like that all the time. I know some girls who hate their soul mate to be like their fathers.
It's related to characteristic and how they grown up in their family.

I think many people think that, and for some girls it is true, but the only thing my dad has in common with any of the guys I have liked is that they are funny. Everything else is like polar opposite to my dad.

I know that men usually do this with their mothers. BUT I have never met my father, so I cannot honestly say that I have an answer for you. I hope not though. Because then I am destined for losers.

I think that is true for a lot of women, even if they find it odd. But think about it...if your dad is a great man who loves and spoils you, wouldn't you want your husband to be the same?
