if people can figure out a cost effective way to mass process cellulose into ethanol...things like leaves would certainly be fine to process....after any sugars are taken out, the leaves would be a great soil builder...or maybe even turned into a rough paper----mixing with many different fibers along with paper in the processing

just rake them into a pile around the trees they fell from. this creates a landscaped look, keeps the roots warm through the winter and is even a little fertilizer.

is composting, trashing? Also lining flower/plant beds for those susceptible to the cold.
