The ice skating rink in Central Park would be romantic... go ice skating and then as you are leaving, walk up the hill and around where you can stand with a view of the ice rink and everyone skating and tell her you want her to be your partner forever and then give her the "ice"!!!
If skating doesn't appeal to you... then there is a sweet little place called "Serendipity" that serves a wonderful dessert called Frozen Hot Chocolate (or something similar to that) and the place has been in several movies like One Fine Day and of course, Serendipity. A cozy table for two over a shared dessert is pretty romantic!
Take her to a broadway show or just to eat in the theater district and then later walk out into the center of Time Square with all the people, cars and bright lights everywhere and then stop and tell her that in the whole crazy world, SHE is the only thing you need and then drop to one knee and ask her!!! It's like you'll be in the middle of everything and all alone at the same time!
You could go out to Ellis Island and enjoy the wonderful history of everyone coming to our country, etc. It's actually very interesting... and then walk outside to where the plaques with everyone's family names on them and look for your names, etc and then while out walking and looking over the water back toward the city you could tell her that "it's time to start our own history..." and ask her there!!!

How about champagne and caviar at Bemelman's at the Carlyle Hotel? They do this incredible caviar spread with toast points, egg, creme fraiche and etc. It is served on a beautiful 3 tiered silver platter.

Since you're in NY, why not wait until the tree is lit at Rockefeller Plaza. That way you can propose to her there with the colorful tree in the back drop. Definitely romantic. The lighting ceremony is on Nov. 29. from 7 pm to 9pm. Plus in NY there will always be an audience. Of course they will cheer, that's if she says yes. It'll be nice.

How about on a horse-and-carriage ride through Central Park or at the top of the Empire State Building?

Sorry, one of your answerer's a delicatessen certainly isn't romantic even if it is Carnegie on 6th ave. HEY, ditto Yankee Stadium. Think more in terms of a Broadway Play, especially a musical which hopefully you know the songs to, during the day of course. Likewise ice skating in Central Park is ideal (during the day) of course and/or a buggy ride through Central Park.

Well if this is a marriage porposal then whatever you do as long as it's sweet and romantic it will be a memory that will last a life time to the both of you! If you want to go out to eat make sure you think of all the small details....sounds strange but if her favorite place to go out and eat is Micky D's.....why the heck not take her to Micky D's and purpose!!!!! I know it sounds corny but it's sweet don't you think???!!!! It's will sure put a smile on her face I bet. Good luck!

Get with Dean & Deluca in Soho and have them pack you a gourmet picnic lunch (you could even have them package the ring inside your box lunch).
Take her to the Pond in Central Park, have lunch and "pop the question."
Afterwards, take her to the Plaza Hotel right across the street and continue your festivities.
