I live in Northern California, and it was rainy and very cold in my part of town. The muscles in my arms and legs were really hurting.

I'm in my mid 40's and though I feel young at heart, my body occasionally feels the effects of getting older and I'm wondering, can an older person like myself experience achy muscles from cold weather? I don't remember feeling this way in my 20's and 30's. I always thought that happened to people in their 60's and up?

What can you recommend that I can use to soothe my sore muscles when the climate dips? Thanks.

In some older persons, rainy and cold weather affects the joints and makes them hurt similar to Arthritis.

Pains in the muscle sounds like you have been exercising or walking around a lot.

At age 40, you are still very young, therefore I suggest that you see a Doctor as soon as possible. Please don't panic, it is far better for a Doctor to diagnosis these symptoms than fo you to guess.

Are you sure it is in your muscles? Or could it be in your bones? Arthritis can hit at any age. If it is your whole body that aches, take a bath in warm water with 100% peanut oil added to it. If you get an ache from the cold damp weather in a joint, rub the peanut oil into it twice a day until it is gone.

Yes it can, its probably your joints more then muscles. Its mostly caused because of the rise and fall of barometric pressure affects the air and fluid in joints its not always from arthritis it can simply be that you aggravated the area and it turns more painful with the change in pressure.

This problem used to be called rhumatiz.. is the ability to detect a storm on the way.. but is not the rain and cold but the reduced atmospheric pressure you respond to. You may even want to consider moving to a lower elevation.
