I have semi-long hair and want to dye it. I want to use a wash out color for now. What do you think is the best one? I need one that is very conditioning and has no amonia. I have very hard well water and dont want to damage my hair more than I have to!

I've had really good luck with the Loreal Color Pulse line. It's a mousse, and washes out completely in about 2 weeks. Makes your hair very soft and smells good.

Henna dye is the best. It is all natural and washes out. You control how dark it gets by how long you leave it in. It works with your natural color. It does smell a bit when applying but the small does not stay and it is not a chemical smell. It is easy to use only add water and can be bought relatively cheep on line.

I have been told by a hair salon where I live that all over the counter hair dye products are metallic and very bad for the hair as it breaks it. It is best if you have it done by a salon because the chemicals found in their hair dyes do not have any metallic chemicals. I dyed my hair and now with Nice & Easy and now every time I wash my hair I end up with strands on my hands!

I'd recommend Clairol Natural Instincts. It's a level 2 color that comes in quite a few pretty shades, and it's available at your local walmart or drugstore. It leaves your hair feeling soft too. It was the first dye I ever used on my own hair.

Go to a beauty supply and ask for a product called fancifull. it has been around forvever, and is compleatly safe and will wash out after a few washes, it comes in many different colors, you can put it in a spray bottle as it is very watery. and spray it on your hair then comb through and dry, you do not rinse it out.
