Will he ever lift his leg???

I don't actually care, I am just wondering. He is what I call a purebred dumb dawg (shep/lab/husky/terrier cross) about 55 lbs (don't know if this matters) and has already been neutered.

I actually knew a female dalmation that peed like a boy...apparently she had a buddy as a pup that was a boy and she picked the habit up from him....LOL.

Since he isn't doing it yet, he probably won't - unless he is just a late bloomer, which could be the case since he's a purebred dumb dawg - my favorite, btw :o)

Hi - When a male dog lifts his leg to pee, he's marking his territory which has to do with him being sexually mature. If a puppy is neutered before he enters puberty or learns to lift his leg, then he may never do that. I just got a dog myself and he's about 8-9 months old. He just got neutered too and he still squats to pee. I read on line that 50% of male dogs never lift their leg to pee.

WHen pupies get male puppies get nuetered when they are really young they will pee like a female dog. My dog was nuetered really young and he does the same thing and he is a pitbull. He does it about half the time, other times he lifts a leg. So if the dog was snipped real young then that could be your answer.

First, there are distinctive people who breed that would no longer. That suggested, this modification into one in each and every of them. you're no longer asking stupid questions. puppies can wean around 4-5 weeks. it is not a foul factor. although, taking the mum away at 4 weeks exchange into merely irresponsible. puppies could be with their mom until eventually they are 8 weeks old. The wellbeing of the domestic dog isn't commonly compromised, yet socialization is. There are social skills and training that a mom teaches the puppies for the period of that element that are harder for the domestic dog to verify after that element. in case you have different canines and would get the domestic dog around different mature canines which will proceed the training, you will in all hazard have a extra polite, properly-mannered canines in the tip. Wormers from a food market! NO. Get wormer out of your vet. you are able to harm your canines with food market wormers. superb desires.

If he was neutered at a young age he'll always squat. I have a yorkie and he had to be neutered when he was just a baby, he had a hernia. He is now 2 yrs old and squats to pee, sometimes he will hike his leg but very few times. Its ok that he doesn't hike.

My (neutered) male pug didn't lift his leg until he saw another male do it, I think he was around 9-10 months old.
Same for my previous dog, also a neutered male, a lab-great dane mix. He was the same way except I think he was a little over a year old when he finally did it.

He will learn as he gets older to life his leg. He will not be full grown until he is 2 years old. He will learn in his own time. I have a Boxer who is over 2 and just now starting to lift his leg. Each dog is different when it comes to that timetable. They seem to set their own.

It's not unusual for young male dogs to "squat" to urinate when they're little. Many male dogs don't start lifting their leg until their bodies are almost fully developed and the bones and muscles can manage the one-leg lift.

There isnt anything wrong with him. Some are like that. He can eventually star lifting his leg sooner or later. Being that he was neutered at a young age his hormones didnt kick in for him to start "marking" his territory.
