I have tried hospitals, Drs. even Mayo and Shands. I work hard and go to school for higher education and yet I have no where to turn. If not treated soon I may not have to worry where to go but my family will. A GI doctor is needed but to no avail. Any one with answers? Please help, am desparate.

Shands said I am out of their region. I have what is called pseudo membranous colitis which is from anti-biotics.This is my second go around with this so my intestines are in very bad shape. I need a GI man and I am willing to make payments. I have not found any one interested in that so far though.

I would assume that you can go to a dr. w/out insurance and have them bill you for the service, in which you can make monthly payments on. If you are sick, money shouldn't be an issue...go and get help!!

I'm surprised that Shand's was unable to help you. There are public hospital districts in Florida, like the group of hospitals in Broward County (Broward General, Imperial Point, Coral Springs).
They treat medically indigent patients for far less than other hospitals.
Did you know that doctors and hospitals are willing to negotiate payment and fees? They do this so people will at least pay a portion of their bill.

I would call around for a dr. who will accept monthly payments. Are there any goverment agencies who will help you? I have the same problem, I just pay what i can everymonth. Good Luck.

Most states have an emergency medical program to help people in your situation. Try contacting the welfare department or social services in your county. They may be able to refer you or even help. Also try Red Cross or other community charity groups.
