There are a lot of people who might try and hurt him if he goes, but the Christians of that area have been under heavy persecution and need some help. Also he can't back out now or some people would claim that Christians were weak and it was a weak and fake religion (remember he represents the entire church.)

The Pope is pretty much risking his life to go to Turkey and I hope nothing happens to him. There's actually a book...best seller in Turkey...called something like "Who will kill the Pope" or something like that, so I think the threat is serious. Turkey is 99% Muslim and apparently peopel are still angry about the Pope's comment this past Sept.
But I think the Pope's mission is important. Someone has to go over there and try straighten out the mess our world is in today. Hopefully he'll be fine and perhaps able to accomplish something good during his visit. Unfortunately if anything does happen to the Pope while he is over there then that might be the powder keg that ends up setting things off.
Everyone, regardless of religion, should pray for his safety. I commend the Pope for what his is doing. It's a dangerous mission but very necessary.

Yes. The Islamic world needs to enter into the conversation of the world and be removed from their isolation. Listening to others and their positions is being a part of the world.
Godspeed Pope Benedict XVI!

I don’t think the Pope should visit Turkey. The statement that he made against the Quran is very offensive to Muslims.

Yes. Let him go. Let him be martyred. Let the protestors prove that the guy he quoted, and was saying was wrong, was in fact right.
Funny, isn't it, that they're all torqued over the quote, when benedict was disagreeing with the quote, and are complaining violently about being called... *lifts an eyebrow* violent.

If he goes to Turkey, no matter what happens it will be the Lords will. Either his ordaining will or his permissive will. I personally will and am praying for him.
