There is only one document it is not working on. I tried to copy and paste it onto a new document but it still doesn't work. Even when I purposely type something wrong, it won't underline it and when I click on ABC check, a message comes up about not being able to find some file or something, or it just doesn't sheck at all. How do I fix this?

open the document in msword

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling & Grammar tab.

Make sure the Check spelling as you type and/or Check grammar as you type check boxes are selected.

Do one or more of the following:
To show or hide underlines for spelling errors, select or clear the Hide spelling errors in this document check box.

To show or hide underlines for grammatical errors, select or clear the Hide grammatical errors in this document check box.

I can only think of two possibilities. One is that your Microsoft Word installation has been corrupted in which case you'll have to use your Microsoft Office CD to repair the application. But since you said that you're only experiencing the problem on a single document, you should take that as a last option. The second thing you should try is selecting the whole text or document and clearing the formatting.
Then if the problem persists, you may have to go along with the repairing.

Stuart is right. There is not sufficient information to solve this one. The other thing you could try is to cut and paste the text from word into notepad, then cut and paste the text from notepad into a new document, to elimnate any special characters from the document.

You wrote: "a message comes up about not being able to find some file or something"

That message tells us what the problem is. Copy it down word for word, and we'll be able to help.
