I have posted different times questions or answers that I am sure were getting a point across and challenged some beliefs. I have absolutely never used bad words, insults, just pointed out facts and my questions or answers were reported injustly , my deduction is that the question or answers were non convinient to some religious groups .
It is like we have no freedom of speech. I believe THAT only the insults , bad words should be reported not the questions or answers that point out flaws about religions. What do we have to do to stop this from happening? Do we all have to write to yahoo ? IT IS UPSETTING TO SEE we have no freedom of speech, since intelligent posts just because challenged someone get deleted.
very sad indeed.

things are over board people getting violation for reasons that don't make sense, I agree with reasons for reporting and add adult content and cussing are the only thing i really report. I don't understand the one how report just because thy don't like what is said.
i wonder if the reports are even looked at, at all, it look like they are all just deleted with out review.
there are a lot who have left and more considering it.
(wondering if this answer will even last long enough to be read)

I mostly agree with you. I disagree on the insults part. When people use insults and swear words I already know what to do with the rest of his or her argument. *Crumpling sounds, and paper hits the rim of the waste-basket".
Freedom of speech means that you have to take responsibility for what you say. Anyone bringing down the level of the discussion/debate should have his or her argument dismissed, but the opinion no matter how counter-productive should not be censored.
Also the definition of insulting is open to wide interpretation. If someone offends easily, a simple comment like, "Jesus is my Lord" or "I do not believe in a God or afterlife" might be insulting to some. I think the evidence for this comes from how some people get so defensive when an idea is challenged.

If you have ever reported someone, you will see that there is a droplist of complaints. Most of the warnings and deletions are automatically generated. There are just not enough Yahoo staff to do the kind of hands-on policing you imagine. So its essentially mob rule. You aren't so much violating the "guidelines" as upsetting someone with a thin skin. Rightly or wrongly, there are certain subjects that can't be discussed here because some people won't tolerate it. Don't take it personally. It's just a fact of Yahoo life. Pick a less controversial topic or a safer section of the forum. Stupidity and unfairness exist. Cope.

"I have posted different times questions or answers that I am sure were getting a point across and challenged some beliefs."
Are you certain that were *actually* questions and answers? For example: "Have you read this?" and going on to list some website you want people to read is NOT a valid question. I think it's more likely that you were posting stuff like that, than being persecuted by yahoo somehow.
"It is like we have no freedom of speech"
You're right. You don't. Nor should you, not here, this is NOT the US, this is the internet. Even it it were, this is yahoo's private property, and they have every right to control the content here the same way you have every right to, lets say... take down signs that someone put up on your house that you don't want. Or the right to kick someone off your property if you don't want them screaming obcenities in your yard.

Yes, I know what you mean. I had a post about how many hispanic boyfriends may be possessive, but I was asking about it. Not actually saying that was true! Guess what? My post was deleted and I think someone complained about it being abusive. I don't understand why. That is why this is a Question and Answer area! It's purpose is to get the facts and to discover the truth not insult other cultures. It's purpose is to get passed the stereotypes not get angry about them. How ironic!! People can be so childish!

It's not the reporting that's the issue...it's if Yahoo! takes action when the post truly wasn't breaking any of their posted rules or TOS.
SOMEONE is going to take offense or issue with just about anything posted or said...it's just the way of the world...but we should be able to hope the 'powers that be' that run the websites that we chat and post on, know the difference between something inappropriate, and something someone simply is disagreeing with.
Take it up with Yahoo...they are the ones that are actually taking the action...

I know what you mean. I've had a few deleted with the Violation that I was chatting, yet my answer was a direct response to the question and wasn't chatting at all, but historical reference. It seems there are some here who think they are cute by reporting... or someone ticked them off. The only thing I can say, is report those you know are doing it.

Just because someone reports you does not mean that your post or question will be removed.
I am certain that I have been reported for the majority of my questions and answer. However only a small number have ever been removed.

It will always be unfair because of a dual phenomenon: people are different (one man's gem of wisdom is another man's affront to all that is decent), and yahoo answers enforcement is slipshod (many horrible racist and pornographic posts stay up indefinitely, and harmless little responses are deleted without prejudice immediately). That's tough but honest. And no, I can't begin to see the rhyme or reason to any of it.

Reading responses is difficult at best when it comes to matters of high belief. Your tones and inflections are not communicated in the same ways you that you speak, therefore are left up to the reader to infer their own. This can get risky once breeched those personal levels that probably could have been talked out in a normal conversation. Have faith and remember flaws in your eyes are fundemental realisms in others.
