what do you think of the wiccian religion?

There is a lot of good within the Religion, for those that can actually get thru the media hype and those that are sometimes labelled "Fluffy" because they only use the glamour they find in it and not really delve into the religion itself. Though, personally, I am not a Wiccan, I'm Pagan... I have found good within it.

Just be sure to actually study what you find others saying about it. Like with all Religions, not everyone within the Religion knows what they are talking about. *smile*

I feel Wicca is a great religion. It embraces both the powers of nature and the powers of spirituality. As a Druid I can easily respect those who follow a similar path. There are a few non-Wiccans outs there that instantly dismiss it as a Satanic religion, and from my experience being around the Wiccan society, it's very much the opposite. The people who pass such judgements are either blinded by their own religion, have little or no respect for others, or are just uneducated in the ways of other religions. Should I mention I've always had a thing for Wiccan women, just something about how they embrace the religion and their connection to the Goddesses that makes them just oh so sexy I think.

I once wrote a paper about the similarities between Wicca and Catholicism. Here are a couple of the highlights.

Catholics believe in a Holy Trinity, so do Wiccans. Father, Son and Holy Ghost become Maiden, Mother, and Crone. One masculine, one feminine.

Early Catholicism absorbed other religious dogma. Wicca attempts to re-write their dogma using other beliefs as a platform. For instance, Christmas tradition comes from an assortment of pagan traditions, however, in Wicca, you find holy days made similar, but with varying cultural practices like American Indian Wiccan Beltaine.

Both profess to be peaceful religions. However, the brutality of the Catholic church is easily found in the historical record. Wicca claims to be a revival of ancient druidism, which is also known to have engaged in the torture of prisoners and ritualistic human sacrifice.

I don't know anyone who is a member and I have never been to any of their meetings. From what I have read (very little) it is an earth religion that involves different rituals performed with props. I am not sure what the props are - herbs or essential oils maybe? I don't really have any faith in the rituals.

The basic, central belief is "no harm done" meaning that we are free to do what we please, as long as it causes no harm to anyone else. I think that is a good belief, similar to the golden rule but still a good belief.

I don't think wicca involves any type of witchcraft, lol. That is just hollywood stuff.

In my opinion, it is just a person coming in contact with the four elements of earth. In other words, a person coming in contact with a natural and spiritual world. This world has many religions and my respects to all because this is a way of showing just how different each and every individual is in this planet we all share.

i have yet to meet or speak with a person of the Wiccan religion that has not been respectful and understanding ... compassionate and honest
and their religious teachings are no different
they are nature based and give what they wish to receive in return

From what I understand, it is very "natural" and more about herbs and plants and Mother Earth than about witches or whatever. It seems very interesting.
