In Wordpad, click "File" in the top left corner and click "Save As..." from the menu that appears. It will bring up a window that shows you folders and files on your computer.

Near the top of that window it will say "Save in: " next to a box with a drop-down list that probably says "My Documents". Click the down arrow icon on the right side of that box and find the entry in the list that says something like "Floppy Drive (A:)". Click that once.

Click on the box near the bottom of the window that says "File name" and type in a name for the file, the click the button on the bottom right that says "Save".

There are many ways:

1. Save as and then select targert drive to be a floppy drive ( don't forget to insert a floppy disk in before saving).

2. Save the document on your hard drive ( on the desktop) and then frag it over floppy drive icon in my computer or shortcat to it (if exists) on your desktop).

3. Right click on the document and from a pop up menu select Send To-> Floppy.

Once you have your document open in wordpad, press CNTRL + S. This will open the Save As... dialog. Click on My Computer at the left. That'll give you a list of local hard drives. So click on the FLOPPY one (A:). Then save it in there.

If the document is already saved in another location, you can do a simple copy & paste to the floppy disc, or open it in wordpad and press SHIFT+CNTRL+S, which will open the Save As... dialog box to save another copy on a different location (in this case, the floppy).

Adding to the previous answerers: If using Save As and selecting drive A: doesn't work, then save the document to a temporary location on your C: drive. Then use My Computer / Windows Explorer to move the file from C: to the floppy.

Make sure the floppy disk is inserted into the the drive. Click save and when it asks where to save to, click the drop down menu, select my computer, then usually A: drive (is the floppy). Make sure you name the file, and click save.

If you want to check and make sure, go to your desktop, click my computer, then select A drive. The file should be located there.

Recordable CD's can take up to 700 megs, that's equivalent to about 500 of your floppy diskettes. They can be formatted to work like a diskette, but usually they are more cumbersome and easier to use for one-time writes. If you use CD-RW, you can rewrite like on a diskette but again, it's not so practical unless you're used to it. When you mentioned "USB" what you are talking about is a PEN DRIVE. You can basically buy a 512 MB pen drive for about 40$ and you can use this as a transportable hard drive to go back and forth between computers. You can get them at any computer store or office supply store like "STAPLES". Basically, you just stick it in a USB port and it works like another hard drive and is usually recoginized by "REMOVABLE DRIVE X" where X can be any letter from D to Z depending on your system.
