It depends on the State you live in and its regulations. In some states you really have to be 18 years of age no excusses. However, in some states you can be 16 years of age with parent's permission to get a tattoo.

I tried to get a tattoo before I turned 18 and they said that I couldn't. Even with parental consent. They said that the law changed and that they could only tattoo people over the age of 18. I'm from NC, but it might be different in other states. I think they did tell me that it was everywhere in the United States.

In Tennessee you have to be 18 for a tattoo and 16 to get a piercing with your parents permission

You have to be 18 to get a tattoo, but it can vary from state to state, country to country. As far as being a minor, there is a standard you have to be at least 16 with a parent present at the time. Keep in mind some shops set their own rules (I know a shop that does not allow anyone under 18 to get a mod). You should call the shop you have in mind to confirm their set rules

i think in some states you have to be 18 but in most, with parents consent, you probably can get a tattoo. of course if your like 12, it mite be too young but 15-17 is good. look it up online, theres a website that shoes which states allow it and what the laws are for tattooing

In the US, you have to be 18 to be able to get a tattoo. I think if you have your parents signature, it is 16 years old.

Its 18 mosly everywhere. And even with a parent a lot of states (like here in Wisconsin) WILL NOT let you get one until you are 18.
